In most instances, these Districts were established in response to specific needs within certain geographic areas, ensuring targeted services could be delivered without imposing taxes or fees county-wide. Additionally, some Districts were created under the belief that an independent administration would more effectively serve the needs of the County's residents.
Though these Districts are appendages of the County, they run independently from the County Administration. All Districts are made up of either five- or seven-member boards.
The County also participates in various boards, either through direct administration or by having a representative serve on boards that operate under other government agencies or private entities.
If you are interested in serving as a board member or participating in the district's and board's meetings please fill out the Boards & Service District Inquiry Form.
